Movember started way back in 2004 with a group of 30 men in Queensland, Australia. They decided to grow a moustache to raise awareness for men suffering with prostate cancer and depression. They never knew it would become such a world wide charity raising over £402million to date.
Movember has now become an annual event taking place all across the globe every November. Each year more and more ideas of how to contribute to the cause are being suggested, encouraging Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to contribute even more than previous years to raise awareness and funds for the charity known for 'changing the face of men's health'.
The fundraising was originally for prostate cancer and depression in men, which in most cases seem to come hand in hand with one another. Through the huge success they are now able to raise awareness in more areas:
Prostate Cancer: The most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the uk.
Testicular Cancer: Most common cancer in men aged 25-49.
Poor Mental Health: Around 13 men take their life by suicide each day in the UK.
Physical Inactivity: 41% of men in high-income countries do not exercise enough.
This year it is not just growing a moustache, Movember Foundation are also trying to get everyone active for the 30 days of November, can you get your moves going? One new move each day for the whole month. But don't forget to sign up, help raise awareness, help change the face of men's health.

The Insurance Surgery is a leading insurance specialist for people living with pre-existing medical conditions such as Prostate and Testicular Cancer. While most people may consider Cancer as an uninsurable condition, cover is still possible but there are still some factors to consider.
Underwriting considerations for Cancer will include:
- Length of time since diagnosis
- Length of time since treatment
- Site of cancerous cells (or tumour)
- Grade and stage of the cancer
- Affected Areas
Although you may have previously been declined life insurance The Insurance Surgery works hard across the whole of the market to find the best available cover possible, however it may incur additional loadings to premiums or exclusions on Critical Illness/TPD (Total and Permanent Disability).
